The 1080p up-scaling enables the camera to record footage in standard definition, from which it will then instantly convert to HD when played back on an HDTV or an HD monitor. The Optical Image Stabilizer technology eliminates blurred images caused by shaky hands, increasing the quality of the captured video. The Solid State Drive of the SMX-K44 allows for faster access time, and more durability than a harddrive. When compared to another Samsung camcorder, the HMX-S10, the SMX-K44 falls short in some aspects. Though they share certain technologies (SSD, OIS, etc), the SMX-K44 cannot record in true HD, and lacks the BSI CMOS sensor the HMX-S10 has.
