It offers an impressive zooming capacity, SD storage, and several features for ease of operation. The SMX-F53 shoots standard definition 720 x 480 pixel videos--criticized by some as being low quality--and records directly to a user-supplied SD card which, depending on the size, can record up to 6 hours and 20 minutes of footage. A 65x intelligent zoom and 52x optical zoom make an apperance, as well as several time-saving features--Smart Background Music (SBM) automatically lowers background music whenever speech is detected, Record Pause lets users pause the recording without fracturing the footage into two clips, and Smart Feature detects lighting conditions and automatically adjusts the camera's settings for better filming. Aside from the standard black, the SMX-F53 also comes in silver, red and blue.
