Samsung SMX-F34BN

$300.00 Released January, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Can just pick it up and use it, no real learning curve. Zoom range is very good, don't loose any detail when you use it. Time lapse feature is a lot of fun and offers good flexibility.

The Cons:Video can be choppy and shows artifacts at times. Whenever you pan the picture suffers from interlacing problems. 800x600 resolution leaves black bars on the sides of a typical HD display.

The Samsung SMX-F34BN is a 16GB Flash Memory Camcorder that retails for just $300 and and was released in 2009. This is an unusual camera type that can record up to 8 hours. It has a zoom of 42x which is pretty powerful, it also has an optimized mode for Youtube, which is a feature that's usually found in pocket camcorders such as the RCA EZ200.

It has a 2.7" LCD, which is almost a standard feature across miniDVs, HDs and DVD camcorders.  While the manufacturer claims that this could be a replacement for digital cameras, it only takes a miserly 800x600 pixel still.
