The Samsung D382 is a low-end, very low-budget camcorder that records to 80 minute Mini DV tapes. It includes a 34x optical, 100x digital zoom lens with a filter diameter of 30mm, focal length of 2.3 mm - 78.2 mm, and a lens aperture of F/1.6.

It records video at a maximum resolution of 720 x 480 digital quality with a 680k pixel CCD. The D382 has a 2.7" LCD color display preview screen with no installed viewfinder. The camera accompanies a Li-ion rechargeable battery with an external power adapter and has an estimated battery life of 80 minutes, right around the average recording time of one full DV tape. Additional device features include digital noise reduction, a built-in speaker, display brightness control, and a backlight compensation mode. Manual connections include 1 IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) which functions as both an input and output, 1 Composite video/audio output, and of course 1 DC power input. The D382 comes bundled with a remote control, and an A/V cable. Video and audio special effects are available internally such as Negative, Mosaic, Pastel, Art, Black & White, Mirror, Sepia, and Emboss video overlays and Sand & snow, Spotlight, Portrait mode, Sports mode, Hi-speed shutt easy access video recording programs. The Samsung D382 was released on July 9, 2008 and has an MSRP of $199.
