Panasonic HDC-SDT750

$1,400.00 Released October, 2010

Product Shot 1The Panasonic HDC-SDT750 is a stereoscopic 3D camcorder touted as the “World’s first 3D shooting camcorder.” Speculation is that the unit is in fact an HDC-HS700 (or other high-end 3MOS model) fitted with a 3D conversion lens.

Regardless, the 3D lens is basically attached to the unit’s Leica 12x optical zens, thereby enabling it to capture dual 960x1080 images at the same time—one for the left eye, and one for the right. The combined image can then be transmitted to a 3D HDTV. Unfortunately, shooting dual images causes a reduction in light sensitivity; plus the control ring can only be used to control white balance in real time. Note that without the 3D lenses, the HDC-SDT750 can be used for conventional 2D, 1080p high-definition video capture.
