This is the flagship model in the new Everio lineup, and the real distinguishing feature is an integrated 2D-to-3D image converter, which allows playback to be viewed in HD on the camera's screen (without 3D glasses), or sent to a compatible 3D TV.

This, and the model below it (the GZ-HM860) feature the Everio's best quality optics, compared to the lower models, optimized for this particular CMOS sensor. The sensor itself is drastically larger than most other JVC models, at 10.1 megapixels. This means that still images are also taken at this resolution. This model has a 3.5" touchscreen. Other key features include Bluetooth connectivity to sync with wireless devices,  10x optical zoom, face recognition, and 16GB of onboard flash storage. This camcorder has a relatively high price point.
