The Pros:Zoom range is very good, can catch distant subjects. LCD is large and clear, easy to view. Works with standard DVD recording media, cheap and easy to acquire.
The Cons:Still images are low resolution and have a lot of noise. Top resolution still doesn't achieve 720p high definition.
Released in 2007 the Hitachi DZGX5080A is a standard definition DVD camcorder. The more expensive brother of the DZGX5020A, the DZGX5080A shoots at 640x480 and records directly onto a DVD allowing for 1 hour of recording time on each side, at standard settings.

Both models feature the same internal specifications, but the DZGX5080A includes a built in LED light that makes recording in low light situations easier. Still images are restricted by the camcorder's lackluster CCD, producing a maximum image resolution of 640x480 (0.3MP). The DZGX5080A also has a USB2 connectivity option.
