It has numerous scene modes, instant autofocus and auto-exposure to adjust for different light conditions. This model has a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD display. It can also function as a still-image camera, with 3.9 megapixel resolution, or take video snapshots of 2 to 8 seconds of video. The lack of a touch-screen and lower-resolution still image keep this camera in a lower price bracket than the touchscreen VIXIA models, though otherwise they have similar features (in fact, this model has larger optical zoom). There is also an accessory shoe above the viewfinder that can hold a range of Canon accessories, like a light or microphone.
